Tanner grew up in the creeks and forests of Western Tennessee before moving to Chattanooga to attend the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. Following his love for the outdoors, he earned a Masters Degree in Environmental Science, specializing in freshwater conservation and aquatic biota. After working briefly in animal care in Chattanooga he moved with his wife to Kentucky so that she could pursue her career at the Primate Rescue Center. He joined the team a year later after volunteering periodically throughout the year, and now works as a Caregiver Associate. He has loved every minute of his time at the sanctuary and has made many friendships with the primates.
